FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Giga Family Smart Type
Terms and Conditions

Connected Terminals There is no limit on the number of terminals that can be connected on a single subscriber's line (number of terminals installed on a corporate or home LAN).
Time until Service Start The time it takes until customers can start using the service depends on the building (e.g. piping) and our equipment availability. Your understanding is appreciated.
When changing plans from B FLET'S to FLET'S HIKARI NEXT You cannot use the service when the changing work is in progress.
Moreover, some services may no longer be able to be used, or your equipment may need to be replaced or reset, etc. As well, separate installation charges will apply. Further, changing plans from B FLET'S to FLET'S HIKARI NEXT may involve other issues not mentioned here depending on the context. Click here to confirm details. For more details, make an inquiry by telephone.
User Interfaces The user interface is 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX for Family Type. It is 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T for Giga Family Smart Type/Family Giga Line Type/Family High-Speed Type/Business Type/Prio 10/Prio 1. The customer must prepare an Ethernet interface (LAN card, etc.) in the PC or other terminal device. (The customer must prepare the required LAN interface.)

In order to use a broadband router and provide IPv6 communications such as video transmission services, the customer must prepare an IPv6 compatible broadband router.
For FLET'S HIKARI NEXT supported devices (IPv6 communication supported broadband routers), see below.

* This information concerns the operation confirmation status of Internet connection etc. with FLET'S HIKARI NEXT, and does not guarantee operation in all environments.

Internet (IPv4) For IPv4 Internet, PPPoE is used. We will send PPPoE driver software to customers with set installation dates the day before the installation date by methods such as shipping. If you are using Mac OS X as your computer's OS, use the PPPoE function that comes standard in the OS. It is also possible to use PPPoE software provided by the customer, or routers supporting PPPoE. However, for questions about setting up such equipment, refer to the software vendor or the manual included with the product.
  1. A check of equipment may be made for the optical subscriber's line installation before the actual equipment is set up. The results of the check may mean "FLET'S HIKARI NEXT" is unavailable.
  2. Installation of piping and equipment in the customer's building may be required when setting up the subscriber's optical line. Customers will be responsible for the costs of this installation work. If the building is an apartment or tenanted building, permission from the apartment or building owner, or board of owners association, will be required for installation and use of shared equipment.
  3. The subscriber's service may be temporarily interrupted due to maintenance and servicing of our own equipment and facilities.

Precautions for use

Precautions when using FLET'S HIKARI NEXT
  1. The calculation period for charges for this service is from the 1st day to the last day of every month. If the subscriber requests a cancellation of the service during this calculation period, an invoice for payment will be sent based on a daily rate for the period that the service was actually used.
  2. A contract with Internet service providers, or the purchase of equipment such as a LAN card, may be required to use this service. Charges in these cases will be borne by the subscriber.
Locations for cable modem routers or HIKARI DENWA supported devices Indoors only. A power supply (AC 100 V) is also required.

Giga Line Type
Up to approx. 1 Gbps Up to approx. 1 Gbps
High-Speed Type
Up to 200 Mbps Up to 100 Mbps
Family Type Up to 100 Mbps Up to 100 Mbps
Prio Up to approx. 1 Gbps Up to approx. 1 Gbps
  • To use the Internet, a separate contract for the service is required with your provider. Please note that providers are different for each type of service.
  • Maximum communication speeds indicate maximum values based on technical standards and do not necessarily represent actual usage speeds. Internet speeds during use may slow significantly due to the user environment (such as terminal device specifications) and line congestion.
  • In order to achieve communication speeds exceeding 100 Mbps, equipment that is capable of communication speeds of 1 Gbps is required (compatible LAN cables, computer terminals, etc).
Internet (IPv6)
  • For Internet (IPv6 PPPoE) connections, additional equipment such as an IPv6 tunnel adapter* may be required.
    * A device for PPPoE connectivity for Internet (IPv6 PPPoE) connections
  • For IPv6 IPoE Internet communication, the High-Speed Type maximum communication speeds are 100 Mbps for sending data and about 1 Gbps for receiving data. The maximum speed of about 1 Gbps only applies to IPv6 IPoE Internet communication (such as viewing websites that support IPv6 addresses).
  • Not all websites on the Internet support IPv6 Internet.
FLET'S v6 Option
  • Functions required for Internet (IPv6 IPoE) communications will be provided for FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Giga Family Smart Type, Family Giga Line Type, and Prio 10/Prio 1 services.
  • Customers subscribing to other types of services (including move/change of service type) will be offered the "FLET's v6 Option" (no monthly charges; the option can also be declined).
  • Application for the "FLET's v6 Option" discount is required. Also, there will be no installation charge for the FLET'S v6 Option as long as it is installed at the same time as FLET'S HIKARI NEXT.
Precautions on wireless LAN usage
  • When using a wireless LAN, set up security features (such as communication encryption) to prevent third-party falsification of data, identity theft, etc.
  • Communication may be lost or communication speeds may significantly slow if there is interference such as signal-blocking obstructions between wireless LAN segments or if there are devices using the same wireless frequency band.
  • The Wi-Fi LAN transmission distance varies with the usage environment and signal quality.
Precautions on Giga Family Smart Type use <About Internet (IPv6 PPPoE) connectivity>
  • IPv6 PPPoE Internet connections will require a HIKARI DENWA contract or an IPv6 tunnel adapter.
  • Internet (IPv6 PPPoE) connectivity is not available with the cable modem router without a HIKARI DENWA contract.
<Added Services>
  • FLET'S VPN Prio service can be used. (FLET'S VPN WIDE cannot be used.)
Precautions when using Prio 10 and Prio 1
  • Bandwidth-prioritized communication can be achieved within the contract band by setting up devices such as routers that support such communication.
  • In communication between bases, when the access service at both bases is FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Prio 10, 10 Mbps of priority bandwidth is assigned. When the access service at one or both bases is FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Prio 1, 1 Mbps of priority bandwidth is assigned.
  • FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Prio 10 and FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Prio 1 do not guarantee a band of 10 Mbps or 1 Mbps (respectively).
  • Functions required for Internet (IPv6 IPoE) communications will be provided for FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Prio 10 and Prio 1 services.
  • FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Prio can be used for communication access through our FLET'S network using PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet) with IPv4 or IPv6, or IPoE (IP over Ethernet) with IPv6. Bandwidth priority is transmitted by specifying priority as specified in RFC 2474 (in the first 6 bits, DSCP value: 001000) in the IPv6 packet (IPoE).
  • For more details refer to the technical reference materials (in Japanese only).

<Added Services>
  • FLET'S VPN WIDE and HIKARI STATION cannot be used.
  • FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Prio 10 does not allow use of certain services available with FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Prio 1, such as FLET'S TV, REMOTE SUPPORT SERVICE, Home Visit Support Service, SETUP SERVICE, and FLET'S JOINT.
  • We provide 24-hour troubleshooting and repair as a basic feature. Therefore, it is not possible to apply for the 24-Hour Repair Option.
