<When Using FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Giga Family Smart Type>
One of the following terminals is provided on a rental basis.
- Cable modem router compatible with IEEE 802.11a/n/ac and wireless LAN card compatible with IEEE 802.11b/g/n
- Compact ONU cable modem router that integrates IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac

* When using a wireless LAN, set up security features (such as communication encryption) to prevent third-party falsification of data, identity theft, etc.

* Communication may be lost or communication speeds may significantly slow if there is interference such as signal-blocking obstructions between wireless LAN segments or if there are devices using the same wireless frequency band.

* The default wireless network names (SSID) for the rental devices are as follows:

Remarks Recommended no. of devices connected to the cable modem router including wired and wireless during use is 10 devices or fewer. However, note that at times performance may be slow depending on the usage environment (such as terminal device specifications) and line congestion.

* Connect the cable modem router only after the FLET'S HIKARI activation date notified by us. The Internet will not be available if the cable modem router is connected prior to the FLET'S HIKARI activation date.

* Fully booting the cable modem router may take up to five minutes after powering on the cable modem router, such as when connecting the router for the first time.

* When using a cable modem router from another company, refer to the manual for that device.

*1 Subscribers to the FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Giga Family/Giga Mansion Smart Type who have not subscribed to the HIKARI DENWA service will not have Internet (IPv6 PPPoE) connectivity through the cable modem router.IPv6 PPPoE Internet connections will require a HIKARI DENWA contract or an IPv6 tunnel adapter.The IPv6 tunnel adapter can be purchased here(In Japanese only).

Cable modem router firmware version updates

  • Updating the cable modem router firmware* will enable access to the latest functions and services.

    * Firmware refers to the software that runs the cable modem router. To add and improve functions to the cable modem router, the latest firmware is made available as needed.

  • The factory setting is for automatic updating. When the latest firmware becomes available, the firmware is automatically updated at the preset time (between 1 AM to 5 AM).
    If automatic updates are set for 5:00, the firmware will automatically update (reboot) between 5:00 to 5:59.
  • During the one minute it takes for rebooting, all services including Internet access, HIKARI DENWA, video content streaming will not be available. If changing to manual updating or changing the time of automatic updates is desired, refer to the cable modem router manual and make the change.
[Important] Precautions during version updating

* Never turn off the power on the cable modem router during a firmware version update. Such actions will cause an unrecoverable failure.

* During a firmware version update, all services including Internet access, HIKARI DENWA, video content streaming will not be available.
