Hikari Denwa (or Hikari Denwa Office Type) is an IP phone service that uses the B FLET'S network.
Hikari Denwa offers better discount rates compared to a subscriber line or an INS-Net line. However, you should be aware of usage considerations such as not being able to connect to certain numbers and not being able to use certain services.

Cannot Use during Power Outage
• During a power outage, it is not possible to make emergency calls.
• When a caller dials an emergency number (110/119), the police or fire station is notified (except for some stations) of the subscriber's address, name, and phone number regardless of the display/block setting on the caller's phone. However, entering "184" before the number being called will block the caller's number from being displayed.

Cannot Call Certain Numbers
• Some collect call numbers (106 prefix), TELE-Dome/TELE-Gong numbers (0180 prefix), and Navi Dial numbers (0570 prefix) used by business call centers cannot be called. Read here for details.
* Connection to Navi Dial (0570) is currently under examination.
• It is not possible to attach 0036, 0033, and other "00XX" prefixes to numbers to specify a telecommunications carrier. Some phones or FAX machines, such as ones equipped with a call service function for communicating from a subscriber line to a mobile phone, may not be able make certain types of calls. Examples of functions that may not work are 1) the mobile phone call setting function (0036 auto-dial) and 2) ACR or Super ACR function on some phones or FAX machines not manufactured by NTT. Before you start using Hikari Denwa, stop using the function and contact the service provider to cancel the contract.

Cannot Use Certain Services
• Check here for the additional services you can use with Hikari Denwa and Hikari Denwa Office Type. Some services that are available with a subscriber line cannot be used with Hikari Denwa.
• If you subscribe to a phone service (such as a flat-rate discount service) not provided by NTT East, as the need requires, you may be asked to contact the provider to terminate use of the service. Bear this in mind because there may be charges regardless of whether you have used the service.
• If you subscribe to a rental phone, you cannot continue the rental with Hikari Denwa. Dial 116 to cancel the contract.
• Some functionality of Voice Warp varies from Voice Warp on a subscriber line or other line. Read here for details.

Certain Phones Cannot Be Used
[Hikari Denwa]
It is not possible to use an ISDN phone (i-trenby), a G4FAX machine, and a welfare phone (Silver Anshin Series) with emergency call system.
[Hikari Denwa Office Type]
It is not possible to use a business phone (analog/ISDN interface)
* When using an adapter compatible with Hikari Denwa Office Type, some phones may not work correctly depending on the connected communications equipment.
* It is not possible to use an ISDN phone (i-trenby), a G4FAX machine, and a welfare phone (Silver Anshin Series) with emergency call system.

Using Gas Meter Alert/Inspection Services
Handling varies depending on your contracted company such as a gas company. You will have to notify the contracted company that you intend to change to Hikari Denwa or Hikari Denwa Office Type. If you subscribe to an additional service such as Number Display, you can use the same service under Hikari Denwa or Hikari Denwa Office Type. So be sure to consult with your contracted company.

Billing Payment Notes
• Billing is charged to the same number as the subscriber line or to the B FLET'S billing number (10 digit number beginning with "00").
• If the phone bill recipient continues to use the same phone number, the current billing schedule will be used. For a B FLET'S billing number (10 digit number beginning with "00"), the bill will arrive on the 15th of each month.
• The charge calculation period is from the first day to the last day of each month.
• There is no discount on the basic monthly charge for using the "@billing" service.
• There is no itemized report of calling charges sent through the mail. If you are already using the "@billing" service and wish to continue using the service with Hikari Denwa, you will receive an "ID" and "password" for accessing the itemized report of calling charges. This calling charge report "ID" and "password" are separate from the "ID" and "password" for accessing bank transfer notices. Each "ID" and "password" set is used to access different information. However, it is possible to consolidate the two sets into one. Visit the "@billing" service webpage(in Japanese only) for details.
• If you would like to use the new Hikari Denwa billing number (beginning with "00") to pay the telephone directory advertisement charge, you will need to change the payment method in advance. For details contact NTT-BJ at (0120-506-309).

Service and Repairs
• Repair service is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Inquiries are received 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. (Between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. there is a recorded answering service to handle customer calls.)

Other Notes
• If you dial a number with Hikari Denwa or Hikari Denwa Office Type and the called party does not answer the phone, the call will be automatically disconnected after three minutes. Even if you dial a toll free number, hear a message to "please wait," and then wait on standby, the call will be automatically disconnected after three minutes.
• If your intercom is connected to the telephone, installation of interior wiring may be required. Check with the company that installed the intercom system.
• It is possible to connect up to two analog phones to the Hikari Denwa system or one analog phone with the Hikari Denwa-compatible router "WBC V110M."
• You may be using a Hikari Denwa router with integrated VDSL modem or ONU. Later, if you want to discontinue Hikari Denwa service, you will have to switch the router and only use a VDSL modem or an ONU. Bear in mind that neither the VDSL modem nor the ONU will have a router function or a wireless LAN function.
