Usage Notes

Please read the following before applying.

♦ Terms and Conditions

  • To use this service you must sign up for FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Family High-speed Type or FLET'S HIKARI NEXT Family Type or Mansion High-speed Type or Mansion Type or a B FLET'S Hyper Family Type or Mansion Type. (A contract charge, installation charge, and monthly charge apply separately)

    * This service is not available if the Mansion Type uses the PNA System.

  • Using this service requires a "HIKARI DENWA-compatible router" provided by NTT EAST on a rental basis.

    * The HIKARI DENWA-compatible router for Mansion Type (VDSL System/ LAN Wiring System) requires a separate service charge of 472.5 yen/month (tax included).

  • Some numbers such as Dial Q2 (number starting from "0990") cannot be dialed.

Emergency Phone Calls

  • When a caller dials an emergency number (110/119/118), the subscriber's address, name, and telephone number are usually notified to the local station (police, fire station or marine safety) regardless of the display/ block setting on the caller's phone (Except for some stations). However, entering "184" before the number being called will block the caller's number from being displayed. If the emergency organization decides that there is an imminent danger to the person's life etc., it may acquire the caller's address, name, and phone number.
  • This service does not have any mechanism to prioritize communication during a disaster.
  • During a power outage, it is not possible to make emergency calls. You may be able to make a call for a fixed time by using the HIKARI DENWA power outage compatible equipment.

Installation

  • The period before you can start using the service differs depending on the usage location of the subscriber and the status of our equipment.
  • You may have to wait to use the service or you may not be able to use the service depending on some factors such as the status of our equipment.

Numbers You Cannot Call

  • There are certain numbers which cannot be called from this service. For more information see "List of numbers that can or cannot be connected".

    (1) It is not possible to attach "00XX" prefix to numbers to specify a telecommunications carrier. Some phones or FAX machines, such as ones equipped with a call service function for communicating from a subscriber line to a mobile phone, may not be able to make certain types of calls. Examples of functions that may not work are 1) the mobile phone call setting function (0036 auto-dial) and 2) ACR or Super ACR function on some phones or FAX machines not manufactured by NTT. Before you start using HIKARI DENWA, stop using the function and contact the service provider to cancel the contract.

    (2) It is not possible to dial numbers which consist of "1xx" such as 106 (collect call "Operator assisted") and 108 (auto collect call) .

    (3) Certain numbers such as Dial Q2 (beginning with "0990") cannot be dialed.

    (4) If the Free Dial subscriber has a contract that does not permit calls from HIKARI DENWA (IP phones), then the HIKARI DENWA user will not be able to call that Free Dial number.

    (5) It is not possible to call a Sharp Dial (# + 4-digit number) service from HIKARI DENWA.

Services You Cannot Use

  • When you apply for suspension of the subscriber line or termination of the contract, services (discount services etc.) provided by NTT EAST that are used by the suspended phone number will also be terminated.
  • This service is not eligible for My Line. Consequently the My Line contract of a subscriber, who wants to continue to use the current phone number of the subscriber line, will be cancelled.
  • If you subscribe to a phone service (such as a flat-rate discount service) provided by other companies, as the need requires, you may be asked to contact the provider to terminate use of the service. Bear this in mind because there may be charges regardless of whether you have used the service.
  • Some function of Call Forwarding (Voice Warp) varies from Call Forwarding (Voice Warp) on a subscriber line.
  • Some function of Free access and HIKARI wide varies from the "free access" that is provided in the subscriber lines.
  • The High Quality Phone Call service or DATACONNECT cannot be used when connecting to HIKARI DENWA with B FLET'S. Subscribers who use HIKARI DENWA with FLET'S HIKARI NEXT but have not used the Videophone service or the High Quality Phone Call service by May 31, 2010, must sign up separately.

Services that require to contact the Contracted Company

Using a No Ringing Service such as Gas Meter Alert/Inspection Services.
Handling varies depending on your contracted company such as a gas company. You will have to notify the contracted company that you intend to change to HIKARI DENWA. If you subscribe to an additional service such as Caller ID Display (Number Display) (Monthly Charges 420 yen, in some case tax included), you can use the same service as No Ringing Service under HIKARI DENWA also. So be sure to consult with your contracted company.

Using Security Services
Handling varies depending on your contracted company such as a security company. You will have to notify the contracted company that you intend to change to HIKARI DENWA.

Using the Call Billing Service
HIKARI DENWA may not be specified as a subscription enabled line with the Call Billing service provider. You will have to notify the contracted company that you intend to change to HIKARI DENWA. (Occasionally, the procedure to cancel the contract with each provider is required)

Terminals

♦ It is not possible to use an ISDN phone (i-trenby) and a welfare phone (Silver Anshin Series, Business/service phone SL series etc. ) with the emergency call system.

♦ FAX can only be used in G3 mode.

* You cannot use FAX in the digital communication modes such as G4 mode.

* Depending on the telecommunication environment, you may not be able to use FAX in the Super G3 mode.

* If the called party is using an ISDN line, FAX transmission from HIKARI DENWA may not be possible even in G3 mode depending on the settings of the terminal adapter of the called party.

♦ Modem connection may be affected by the environment, communication equipment and the status of the line in the subscriber's residence.

♦ If you subscribe to a rental phone, you cannot continue the rental with HIKARI DENWA. Dial 116 to cancel the contract.

♦ Connect the HIKARI DENWA-compatible router after the HIKARI DENWA service starting date notified by our company. You will not be able to use the Internet and HIKARI DENWA if you connect the router before the HIKARI DENWA service starting date.

♦ It may take about 5 minutes to connect after turning on the power supply when the HIKARI DENWA-compatible router is connected for the first time.

Using Wireless LAN

Using simultaneously with the "050 IP Phone"

  • To use the "050 IP phone", you may need to change the equipment and connection configuration etc. Check here (in Japanese only) for details.

Charges

  • Monthly charge of this service is the sum of the Basic Charges (basic charge, charges for additional services etc) and Call Charges.
  • The charge calculation period is from the first day to the last day of each month.
  • If you want an itemized report of calls, visit @billing. (Itemized reports are not given in writing).
    Unlike the subscriber line, there is no discount for using the @billing service.
  • Equipment lease payments, installment payments (NTT lease) and telephone directory advertisement charges cannot be paid through the monthly phone charges. You will need to change the payment method in advance.

♦ @billing

@billing is a service to notify account transfers, etc. on the Web instead of giving them in writing. This service does not require any monthly charges or installation charges. You can check the itemized reports of calls, usage charges up to the previous day, usage charges notifications, etc. from your computer that is connected to Internet. You can download itemized reports of calls in CSV file format and make inquires about each telephone number. Unlike the subscriber line, there is no discount for using the @billing service. However, the service for accessing the "Itemized report of calls" is different from the service for accessing the "Details of Usage Charges".


[Services that can be used]
  1. You can access "Itemized report of calls" and "Usage Charges up to the previous day" services on the Web.
    • This service is offered only on the Web and not given in writing.
    • You can access this service from your PC.
  2. You can access "Usage Charges Notifications" and "Details of Usage Charges" services on the Web.
    • You have to pay the HIKARI DENWA usage charges by account transfer or by a credit card.
    • You can apply for @billing only from the Web and cannot send any written application.
    • You can access it from a PC or i-mode.

* You can apply either for (1) or (2) given above or for both.

* You need a "User ID" and "Password" to access this service on the Web. On applying, you will receive a "User ID" and "Password" in writing.

* If you apply for both the services mentioned above in (1) and (2), you will receive a different set of "User ID" and "Password " for the two services. However, it is possible to consolidate the two sets into one. Check here (in Japanese only) for how to consolidate the two sets of ID and Password.

* You may have to change the "User ID" and "Password" if the @billing service is to be used from a subscriber line.

Inter Prefectural Calls and International Calls

  • To use this service, you may use the service offered by NTT-ME or NTT Communications to make inter prefectural calls. For international calls, HIKARI DENWA uses services by T-Systems Japan K.K.

Registering in the Telephone Directory

  • You can register your number in a telephone directory under any desired name. However, the surname and name etc. of the subscriber must be the ones generally used.
  • Registration of one phone number is free. (Phone number used for "My number" can also be registered). You will have to pay a multiple registration charge if you wish to make two or more registrations for one phone number. Multiple registration charge is 500 yen (525 yen tax included) per additional registration whenever the telephone directory is issued. Since the charges are levied every time the directory is issued, do not forget to inform us if you do not require the multiple registration.
  • The number will not be registered if so desired by the subscriber.

Other Notes

  • If you dial a number from HIKARI DENWA and the called party does not answer the phone, the call will be automatically disconnected after three minutes. Even if you dial a toll free number, hear a message to "please wait," and then wait on standby, the call will be automatically disconnected after three minutes.
  • The new phone number given by HIKARI DENWA (phone number that does not have number portability from subscriber lines) cannot continue to be connected by number portability in any phone service except HIKARI DENWA Office Type when the HIKARI DENWA service contract is cancelled.

Changing from B FLET'S to FLET'S HIKARI NEXT for using HIKARI DENWA (or vice-versa)

  • When changing from B FLET'S to FLET'S HIKARI NEXT, FAX data received as part of the FAX Notification Mail service before the change can be viewed for 30 days using the Service Setting Homepage (https://www.hikari.ntt-east.co.jp) (Japanese only) and the password before the change. A temporary password for the Service Setting Homepage cannot be set again.
  • "Separate installation charges are required when using with other added services.
  • The remote control access number of "Call Forwarding (Voice Warp)" used in "FLET'S HIKARI NEXT" may be different from that used in "B FLET'S".
  • The phone number for setting the temporary password of "Incoming Call Notification" and "FAX Notification" and the URL of the service setup homepage may be different for "FLET'S HIKARI NEXT" and "B FLET'S".
